Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library is one of the oldest free public libraries in the United States. The Pratt Library was established in 1882 and opened to the public in 1886 with a grant from philanthropist Enoch Pratt (1808-1896).
Maryland Historical Society owns Enoch Pratt’s house on the corner of Park Avenue and Monument Street. The house was originally built in 1847 and presented to MdHS in 1916 by Ms. Mary Washington Keyser.
